This summer I am back working at a dr's office where I have been employed (off & on) for 9 years. The people are amazing, and I used to love the work. Right now, though, it is difficult for me to get through the day because I have so many other things on my mind. Because I am only working temporarily, my responsibilities are pretty minimal. I'm not joking when I tell you that I could literally stare at a wall for 4 hours a day and get paid for it. I'm serious.
Although I have become a regular coffee drinker over the past two years, my morning caffeine consumption has significantly increased since starting this summer job. Rather than a simple, relatively small cup of coffee each morning, I down at least two giant cups. Keep in mind that I am one of those people who is truly affected by caffeine. I get the shaky hands, sweaty palms, and mind buzz that some people reserve for crack cocaine. I need no hard drugs; I have my coffee.
Each morning, the rebelious part of me enjoys that little buzz in my brain. It makes the hours pass a little faster...no, that's a lie. But it sort of gives me that "here-but-not-here" feeling for at least 15 minutes. I wonder if other people experience this with their morning coffee, too?

I loved it when you called me the other day. You talked for like 2 minutes straight about 5 different things, then paused, and explained that you had coffee. My only respose: "you are talking fast."
